Olivia Rodrigo Announces “Expectations” Remix With Chappell Roan
The song will release Thursday with an accompanying music video featuring the two pop stars.

Olivia Rodrigo is teaming up with fellow pop superstar Chappell Roan for a remix of You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl so in Love track “Expectations,” Rodrigo announced on Tuesday.
Fans had been speculating about a collab in recent days, with Rodrigo teasing the song on Monday with a snippet on her Instagram story, sharing audio of Roan saying “Ooh, Olivia does remixes now.” The remix will drop at 5 p.m. Thursday and will also get an accompanying video with Rodrigo and Roan, directed by Bardia Zeinali.

That Rodrigo and Roan are collaborating on a recording isn’t particularly surprising; the two are close friends and share prolific super-producer Dan Nigro as a songwriting partner. Roan, who had served as an opening act for Rodrigo, played at Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival back in August too. The women-led charitable festival raised $20 million for non-profit organizations including Planned Parenthood and the Center for Reproductive Rights.

Roan herself is hosting a charitable concert event of her own in Los Angeles this month as well, the Super Graphic Spectacular, with all the proceeds set to go toward Roan’s Midwest Princess Project. Roan announced that Tinashe, Muna, Lola Young and Caroline Polachek would be on the bill as well.
The “Expectations” remix will serve as the fourth single from Rodrigo’s You Seem Pretty Sad, following “Drop Dead,” “The Cure” and “Stupid Song.” The new recording comes as Rodrigo is in the midst of her sold-out Unraveled Tour. Last week, she graced the cover of The Hollywood Reporter’s music issue, where she spoke extensively about her latest album, planning Daisy Chain Fields and the challenges that accompany the fame she’s amassed since breaking out with “Driver’s License” back in 2021.
